Description
Quick-start executive education for leaders intending to personally oversee the lean transformation of their healthcare and support operations. In this four-day experience, we provide a detailed review of lean systems through interactive discussions, simulations, and practical exercises. It weaves together the technical, human, cultural, and financial perspectives in designing a new architecture for your organization.
ILS has developed a hands-on simulation based on patient, material, and information flows through clinics and diagnostic labs. Through three rounds, the simulation illustrates how lean operations structuring principles apply to health care operations. Students will be able to see how to reduce patient queues, synchronize information flows, and improve the value-add patient experience as the system evolves.
Through successive rounds of discussions and simulations, participants gain a better understanding of the lean work system (an integrated set of practices for improving operational methods and process effectiveness), the jidoka management management system (a system for building control to guarantee safety and quality of care), and value stream management (a systematic way to eliminate waste and improve value delivery from a patient-centered care perspective).
